Performance: Verdi’s FALSTAFF

The Score with Edmund Stone 

Date: Saturday, February 22, 2025, 4pm 

Join us for a special edition of “The Score” featuring a deep dive into the music from last year’s Academy Awards. Edmund Stone will explore the soundtracks of films including “Oppenheimer” and “Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse,” celebrating the nominees for Best Score. Discover how these compositions shaped the narrative and emotion of 2024’s most acclaimed films.

On this episode of “The Score,” Edmund Stone celebrates this year’s Academy Awards by spotlighting the nominees for Best Score and Best Song. Lake Union Civic Orchestra: Where in the World

Join the Lake Union Civic Orchestra for “Where in the World,” a captivating concert that takes you on a musical tour of Europe. Enjoy the vibrant flavors of Italy with pieces by Rossini and Respighi, experience the colorful Spanish influences in Ravel’s “Rapsodie Espagnole,” and delve into the dramatic intensity of Russia with Shostakovich’s first piano concerto. This enriching performance features pianist Milica Jelača Jovanović and trumpeter Patrick Hunninghake, highlighting the orchestra’s versatility and the rich tapestry of classical music.
