Classical KING’s Northwest Focus Live

Featuring: Stacey Mastrian & Adam Stern 

Tune in to Northwest Focus Live to hear Adam Stern, conductor of the Seattle Philharmonic, on the piano as he joins soprano Stacey Mastrian for an evening of duets. This special rebroadcast, originally aired on August 23, 2024, highlights two exceptional artists and their stunning collaboration. 

Metropolitan Opera

Opera: Puccini’s Tosca

Celebrate a year’s worth of quirky holidays through film scores. From A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood for Good Neighbor Day to Zootopia for International Sloth Day, this episode promises fun and surprises. 

Second Inversion: Portrait of a Duke 

Date: Saturday, January 18, 2025, 9pm 

Host: Maggie Molloy 

Pianist, composer, and bandleader Duke Ellington left an indelible mark on jazz. Travel back to 1920s Harlem and beyond with this musical tribute, featuring performances from the Cotton Club to Carnegie Hall.

Northwest Focus Concert Calendar Highlights

The 4 Bs: A Cello & Piano Recital 

Date: Saturday, January 18, 2025, 1pm 

Location: Chapel at the Good Shepherd Center, Seattle 

Enjoy a concert celebrating the 4 B’s of classical music—Beethoven, Britten, Brahms, and Bach. The King-Leiferman cello duo will be joined by pianists Beth Grimmett-Tankersley and Steven Damouni for a dynamic afternoon of timeless works. 

The Sound Ensemble: Sound Bursts in Color! 

Date: Sunday, January 19, 2025, 2pm 

Location: Hengst Studio, Seattle 

Experience an evening where music and art collide. The Sound Ensemble pairs music by local composers with film projections and live painting in the unique setting of Jeff Hengst’s art studio at the old Rainier Brewery. 

 

Gallery Concerts: A Rameau with a View 

Dates & Locations:

  • Sunday, January 19, 2025, 3pm – Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Seattle 

Canadian violinist Marc Destrubé joins viola da gambist Adaiha MacAdam-Somer and harpsichordist Jonathan Oddie for an evening of French Baroque chamber music. Experience works by Rameau, Leclair, and Marais.
