Music takes root in the most unexpected places.

This Saturday on Second Inversion: Planting the Seeds! We’ll hear music inspired by, and in some cases, performed on living plants. From the warm wooden tones of the marimba to the prickly rhythms of amplified cactus needles, you never know what new sounds we’ll dig up next.

One composer converts the electrical activity of living plant leaves into sounds, while a group of percussionists finds music in the spiny cactuses of Montana. Plus, some music inspired by the world’s fastest growing plant—see if you can guess what it is!

To listen, tune in to Classical KING on Saturday, April 19 at 9pm PT.
